Those who booked their holidays through Aeroviva will likely only recoup 50% of their cost
![]() After travel agency Aeroviva closed down towards the end of last year, thousands of customers who had booked their travel and holidays through them were told that they were unlikely to get a full refund. Now, the amount a customer can expect to recoup from Aeroviva has been made public. The company shut down owing customers approximately 1 billion forints. Now the company's assets have been examined and totaled up at approximately 495 million forints. This means that the customers hoping for a full refund will be disappointed. However those who thought that nothing would be returned have something to look forward to. So far, more than one thousand customers have written to Aeroviva outlining their plight. These complaints and refund requests apply to 2,381 customer. Péter Horváth, Director of QBE Atlasz Biztositó Zrt., the company tasked with sorting out the mess left behind by Aeroviva's collapse, says that there were more customers who had requested refunds, but their requests were refused on various grounds. Horváth also said that Police are investigating the matter and until they have completed their investigation, Horváth and his team cannot get a complete picture of the state of affairs at Aeroviva. The Police currently have documents in their position that Horváth needs to look at, but the authorities are keeping their cards close to their chest. The Police say that they have interviewed several people involved in the case but will be speaking to more over the next few weeks. The Police are confident that they will collect enough evidence to ensure a strong case for the prosector's office. They have already said that the company, or employees of the company, are suspected of embezzlement and deception. The Police have already started prosecuting an unnamed defendant in connection with the Aeoviva collapse. Aeroviva closed up shop on 20 December after publishing news on their website that they would no longer be involved in tour or travel agent activities. |
