INA revealed on Friday that it has discovered a a new oil and gas field in Croatia that could provide 30 cubic metres of crude oil and 30000 cubic metres of natural gas daily. The company used satellite imaging and scanning technology to discover the gas field.

Hungarian oil company MOL is the largest shareholder in INA (Industrija nafte), the national oil company of Croatia. The news was greeted with optimism on the Hungarian stock exchange, where the price of MOL shares rose by 0.46%.

The field was discovered near Zutica, in central Croatia and is beneath an already active oil field.  After carrying out more tests in the region, the experts believe that the new, as yet uptapped, oil and gas field is 2000m deep.

MOL owns 47.16% of INA, and as such is the largest shareholder.  The Croatian government is a minority stakeholder with 44.84%.
