The figures show that the worldwide recession has affected everyone, whether they are graduates or not.  Unemployment has increased across the board in the country, although graduates have felt the pinch less than those with further qualificiations.

The percentage of graduates without work has risen 2%, while that of those without higher education qualifications has increased 11%.  The figures were released in the latest report issued by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The OECD report also shows that the Hungary is not too attractive a destination for foreign students.  3.3% of the student population in the country comes from abroad, which is less than half the average for all OECD countries. Most who study here from abroad come from Slovakia (8%), while the most popular destination for Hungarian students who study abroad is Germany (27.3%).

Other popular countries where Hungarians seek further education are Austria and the Great Britain.
