The new national park will be created near Cséffa and  Oláhszentmiklós and will lie less than 30km from Nagyvárad.  The park is a project developed with the joint cooperation of the Romanian and Hungarian governments and will cover almost 5000 hectares.

The park contains a wide variety of different habitats, which is one of the reasons why so many species of bird can be found there.  The park contains forest, marshes, swamps, arable land, pastures, lakes and also rivers, each of which is inhabited by a different selection of avaian life.

The park also falls along one of Europe's busiest migration routes and over the years, or centuries, has become a stop-off spot for many of these migratory birds.

The Romanian government hopes that the new Park will become a popular destination for eco-tourists.
