And his choices are....?
![]() According to the personal blog of Arielle Zuckerberg, sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, the king of social networking is trying to get two dogs for himself. Specifically, he is on the hunt for a Puli and a Komondor, two Hungarian breeds. Both the Puli and the Komondor are ancient breeds, with some records that mention the breeds dating back 3000 years or more. For the non-afficionado, the two breeds share a similarity - they are both dread-locked dogs. The Puli is small and black and has a naughty disposition mixed with boundless energy. Their hair usually reaches the ground so it is quite hard to tell where their bodies begin and end. With their energy, they can often come across like a bouncey-ball hopping from place to place. Pulis are between 42-60 cm tall and weigh between 23 and 30 pounds. Aside from also wearing dreads, the Komondor is the exact opposite of the Puli. It is a very large dog whose colour is usually white, or off-white. Visitors to the Hungarian plain will have seen them because they are usually used for herding animals and for guarding property. They are friendly and gentle and quite fearless. Their hair acts as a shield against other animals as anything biting a Komondor will have to chew through pounds of hair before their teeth come into contact with the animal proper. Komondors are the largest Hungarian dog breed. They can be between 70-90 cm tall and weight between 110-140 lbs, although they will visually appear to be much bigger. On her blog, Arielle lists some names that her brother could name the animals. These include Baxter, Yoda, Rambo, Waffles and Jumanji. You'd think that if he singled out Hungarian dogs as possible pets, maybe he'll end up giving them Hungarian names. |
